STARS ON ICE - April 23rd 2006 at the Bell Centre
With the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy just around the corner, Canadian figure skating fans will be reflecting on many of the country’s past Olympic memories and heroes, and this spring, fans across the country will get to see many of those stars in person as they team up for the spectacular 2006 HSBC Stars on Ice tour which will be stopping at the Bell Centre on April 23rd.
This year’s show features a very special return of one of the most beloved skaters in Canadian history, Elvis Stojko. Stojko, who won two Olympic silver medals in his brilliant amateur career, is making only his second appearance in the 16-year history of Stars on Ice. He will be joining another of Canada’s greatest skating legends, Kurt Browning, as they team up with one of the country’s brightest hopes for the upcoming Winter Olympics, Jeffrey Buttle. Also returning to the show for their fourth year, and their first as husband and wife, will be Olympic gold medallists Jamie Salé & David Pelletier, who will be married later this month.
“The excitement that happens every four years with the Winter Olympics is difficult to match, and it is wonderful that we’ll be able to relive some of that excitement with this year’s show,” said Kurt Browning. “Having Elvis join us this year is going to make this a very memorable tour for both the skaters in the show and the fans!”.
